About the event
"You won’t find a combination of thoughtful songwriting and explosive music in this genre that’s more impressive than the work coming from Mark Baughman’s Working Theory right now." - The Ark of Music
Mark Baughman is a composer, guitarist, playwright, visual artist and architect (yes, really, an architect). Based in Washington, DC, Mark writes songs that take you places - they are movies with vivid characters and complex emotions. The songs have carefully crafted lyrics, melodies and song structures that remind you of many influences but feel fresh and innovative. Mark is versatile and prolific, easily moving from one genre to another to express what's on his mind and heart.
In the past 7 years Mark has written and produced to stage 3 rock operas - 99, Release and Energie. Each tells a story of complex contemporary adult life. He is planning to bring his 4th show – Victoria Falls – to stage in 2023. Meanwhile, he posts new songs in process and as they are completed. Between the rock operas, Mark has produced 5 other albums - She Dreams of the Ghost, Charmed Life, Victoria Falls, No Prophet Here and Divided by Zero - which further showcase his songwriting dexterity and musicianship.
Mark Baughman's Working Theory is a 7-piece ensemble featuring Joseph Abramson on Sax, Mark on Guitar and Vocals, John Coventry on Keys, George Cranford on Drums, Gil Glass on Bass, Joy Richman on Vocals and Mark Smith on Guitar.
